Midheaven Calculator: Find Your MC Sign

Enter your birth date, time and place to get your (MC) sign. We also show how far the MC moves in the hour before and the hour after your time, so you can see how much a doubtful time matters.

Narrow it down with your life events

A calculator needs a time. Our report works the other way round: it tests the possible times against the dated events of your life and sends the most likely window, with the evidence and a confidence level. First, the free range check shows how many rising signs fit.

What the Midheaven is

The Midheaven is the highest point of the chart, where the ecliptic crosses the meridian above the horizon. In Placidus it is also the cusp of the 10th house. Unlike the ascendant, it doesn't depend on the latitude of the birthplace, only on the date, the time and the longitude.

Like the ascendant, it moves with the turning of the Earth: on average about one degree every four minutes, so about a sign every two hours. The window figure above is the actual movement for your date and place.

Born in the US?

Birth records are kept by each state, so what appears on your certificate depends on the state and the year. Read how to find out what time you were born for where to look.

Short answers

What is my Midheaven (MC) sign?
It is the zodiac sign the Midheaven point falls in at your birth time and place. Enter your date, time and place to calculate it.
Is the Midheaven the same as the 10th house?
The Midheaven is the cusp, the starting point, of the 10th house in the Placidus system. It is not the whole house.
Does it handle daylight saving time?
The time you enter is read as the clock time at your place of birth in the US, using the historical time zone rules for that date, including daylight saving time. If the clocks went forward and your time falls in the skipped hour, the calculator tells you.
